School holidays 7.30am to 7.30pm. Sunday and Monday Waking nights: 7.30pm to 7.30am. An additional 180 hours spread throughout the year to cover other staffs’ sickness and annual leave., Family/Client Pets: 1 Dog, Recruiter: Natasha, About this client/child:, Kadyn (16) lives at home with his Mum, Dad, and younger sister. Kadyn has an adapted living area equipped to meet his needs. He attends school full time and likes activities such as swimming, theme parks, Zoo’s, library, and going to open spaces where he can run around, after school and at weekends. At home he likes to have iPad time and play with his many toys. Kadyn has Epilepsy due to Dravet Syndrome, is on the Autistic Spectrum, has learning disabilities and limited spontaneous communication. He has food orally and a PEG in place for liquids and medication. Kadyn can walk short distances and uses a wheelchair for longer walks., Overview of role:, Kadyn requires a support worker to assist him with all his daily needs; personal care, feeding, dressing, and playing. In the morning, it’s getting Kadyn ready for school and to walk him there in his wheelchair which is 20 minutes from his home, (Uber if poor weather). School finishes at 3.00pm, and then Kadyn and his support worker will do an activity such as swimming or the Zoo before going home for dinner. (Kadyn will need his support worker to be proactive to find new and exciting places to go). At mealtimes Kadyn's food needs to be chopped up and he needs support and encouragement to eat well. Throughout the day and night Kadyn has epileptic seizures that present in various ways and needs constant monitoring. Night shifts involve monitoring Kadyn for seizures and encouraging him to have a good night’s sleep and relax. A few light household tasks are also kept for night shifts. There is use of a kitchen and living room with a monitor/camera, tea and coffee making facilities etc., Who this job would suit:, This position will suit a confident and experienced support worker who is proactive at finding new activities to do, and who likes to be active and busy.
